My own two children are both artist in their own right. Being their Mother has been the greatest joy of my life. |

| Comment: Enjoyed connecting with a few of you at the 50th. Because I have liked the life summaries some of you have submitted, I’ll make an attempt...I became a Christian at age seven and walked in close relationship with Jesus until about age twelve when I began to view faith expression as a barrier to the peer relationships I desired so much as an adolescent. I started to behave in ways almost opposite to my Christian faith. I initiated use of alcohol at age 13 and added drugs during high school. I barely graduated high school and was only able to enter college on a resident grant in the State of Kansas on probation. I failed after three semesters and dropped out. I thought I was dumb and didn’t connect it with the brain damage caused by my alcohol and drug use. At age 18 I abandoned my Christian faith with conscious intent...big mistake. By age 30 the life I had embraced destroyed my vision and kidneys secondary to uncontrolled, Type 1 diabetes. I “lost” not only my vision, but everything that had become familiar. I experienced a “come to Jesus” moment, quite literally (He remained faithful). Even though I lost my natural vision, my spiritual vision was restored. I went back to school and discovered I wasn’t so dumb as I had thought. I managed to jam 10 years of education into 15 years and completed a Ph.D. In Counseling Psychology. I married a beautiful woman, inside and out, with whom i’ve been married now for 32 years. I started working at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center during my Internship and have continued with the VA to this time. I currently serve as Program Manager of Mental Health services in Primary Care at the Kansas City VA. My life continues to be characterized by successes AND failures, but God’s love remains constant (for all of us). | |

I have been married to my husband Mark for 42 years. We have two grown children; Jennifer is 39 and Scott 37. I graduated from K-State with a degree in Home Economics Education; but have never taught - instead I have been working at the same bank for 30 years.
